What's your plans for the next decade?

So, starting a new decade is quickly upon us. A few years ago, I stop making resolutions and continued to make S.M.A.R.T short and long term goals. Some may say this is two of a kind or the same thing. Being that I’m big on the play of words and what I put out in the universe. A resolution is typically received as the answer and/or solution to a problem. Do I wait until the new year of reflection to solve the problem or do I set a goal and achieve it while I’m here and breathing? I know the new year brings reflections and new beginnings but how often we put these things in the universe and don’t follow through. Most resolutions are things that I feel we should be working on, daily.

Losing weight, quitting vices (habits we know are not good/healthy for us spiritually, mentally and physically), save money (as an adult this is critical), eat healthier( stop fueling your body with junk), exercise more (its an overall balance to future health complications), learn a new skill (a new skill may take time but you should be learning something new daily) and the list goes on. I know folks that have been losing weight for the past 5 years with no progress to date. Folks that have been advised by a health physician to exercise more and decrease their intake of something for health reasons but continue to do the opposite. Saving money every year and still have not saved a dime.

Continuing to put the wants and needs in the universe but not focusing more on the plan. I am guilty and can contest to being one of those folks. Goals don’t happen overnight, without hard work/dedication, while we sit on the couch and blame others why it hasn’t happened. Seriously, goals should be set every day and not just at the start of a new year. That new year is not promise so we should be striving daily to accomplish whatever we set our minds to. I also would love to hear resolution like, being kind to others, helping your neighbor, listening more, spending more time with family, etc.

When I saw the above meme, it encouraged me to reflect differently in 2019 going into 2020. I want to talk less and listen more. I want to do less planning and doing more. For my planners, I know this is a tough one to swallow because I’m an avid planner. If you want to work on your diet be specific like less soda and more tea. Less complaining and more encouraging is a huge one. Spend more time uplifting each other than whispering and gossiping about the other. Less doubting and more having faith and taking the leap. Lastly and probably one of the most important ones less frowning and more smiling. Smiling is contagious and a beautiful smile can turn a frown up any day. So my encouragement is to do less of something and do more.

What is your plan for the new decade? Don’t let the next decade add to your to do list, start doing more NOW!
