Dreamcation

I found knowing what type of traveler you are or what traveling experience you're looking for can make travel planning less stressful. Forbes and The Buzz Bin magazine published articles recently about the 2018 top traveling types and trends which I found very interesting. Here are the top traveler types/trends in 2018:

The Digital

These are your view seekers. Travel for them is all about the adventure they can capture through pictures and videos to share with others. They also look for enriching travel experiences that combine history with a guided tour. These travelers love planning trips around cultural festivals and other events that would allow you to explore national monuments and archaeological sites.

The Relaxation

5-star resorts with all-inclusive packages are this travelers' dreamcation. It's all about the amenities, spa packages, luxury rooms, and great guest services. They want to unplug from their busy daily routines and be pampered. These travelers are willing to splurge at any cost for relaxation. You may find them at a resort in the middle of nowhere or on a cruise where they can dock and sightsee but also able to retreat to their room for more relaxation.

Spiritual Detox

This traveler is looking to enhance their well-being through wellness retreats, stress-free seminars, self-help conferences that promote growth personally and spiritually. More of these travelers' types are also interested in finding out about their heritage by identifying their roots and exploring the places their ancestors came from. They are more likely to visit their ancestors' native state or country to learn more about the heritage and/or culture.

The Adventure

Combining nature, culture, and activity has never been more popular as travelers look to have experiences in places off-the-beaten-path: climbing New York City’s Empire State Building, touring the Eiffel Tower in Paris, or hiking the Grand Canyon, diving with sharks, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, and trekking through the Amazon, are some popular activities for travelers seeking an adrenaline rush that offer experiences that not every tourist desire. The list of must-visit attractions is expanding and growing for the bucket list traveler.

The Multi-generational

Traveling companies have also noticed that multi-generational travelers can be a family trip that incorporates everyone, from distant cousins to your grandparents. We're seeing more people traveling with members of different generations. Depending on where you want to go, you can find hotels, cruises, and tour companies that cater to groups of all ages with family-friendly activities. Airbnb's and VRBO's are poplar accommodations for these travelers. The home away from home traveler.

The Solo

More travelers are roughing it alone on the road and for getaways. The plus side of independent travel is opening yourself up to meet new people along your journey, but first-timers should start in safe and friendly places. Solo travelers learn to embrace new cultures more personally, make friends outside of their comfort zone and discover how independent and self-sufficient they are. Traveling solo is very popular among women travelers today.

So, what type of traveler are you and where is the next big adventure?
