Dreamcation

Flagstaff, Arizona

So I leave the east coast brutal winters, only to get accepted in Northern Arizona University to become a mountaineer. Yeah, I know crazy and winters in Virginia were nothing like winters in blizzard country Flagstaff. What a beautiful small-town feel the city offers surrounded by the heart of the city which is the university. The city is surrounded by mountains, deserts, and pine forests. Its also home to Arizona's tallest mountain the Humphreys Peak and well known for the Arizona Snow-bowl ski resort.

It always amazed me how I could drive about 145 miles from the dry, hot desert and enter pine forest, very greenery and cooler temperatures, Flagstaff. Sometimes we take the kids up when the weather permits to have a little fun in the snow to snow sled. If you travel during warmer temperature there are a lot of outdoor activities and you are about 30 miles north of Sedona and about 73 miles south of the Grand Canyon which was some of our recent AZ dreamcations. But if you come in the winter you would want to visit Snow-bowl to boost your adrenaline with all the outdoor snow activities a ski resort can offer.

If you are traveling up north during the winter, remember to check the weather and road conditions because the trip made require snow gear for your car. With the cold temperatures, you always want to be prepared for icy roads, snowfall and many other conditions the roads may present.
