Outside of the box art- Kehinde Wiley

So you know I will never give you the typical or ordinary of anything. It has to be complicated, complex, different and very unique for me to do a write-up. Well, let me introduce Kehinde Wiley to you if you have not already seen his unique work.

Kehinde is an artist known for his interesting artistic mimics of Western and Urban Renaissance Art. The artist paints and sculpts people of color in poses inspired by traditional portraits of European aristocracy.

I was introduced to this artist at an art exhibit here at the Phoenix Art Museum in Phoenix, Arizona. I will have to say that his creativity and vibrant energy is definitely portrayed through his work from mimicking portraits of historical figures such as; Napoleon I, Lamentations, Phillip II, Anthony van Dyck, and many others with an urban twist. He certainly bridging and blurring the lines that divide traditional and contemporary art. He also had a bit of performing art during his exhibit. Please check out his amazing exhibit when it comes to a city near you.
